It's gratifying to receive positive, unbiased feedback from someone who isn't familiar with my usual genre.

:)

Prompts: "Spirit" and "Waiting"

Prompts: "Wish", "Edge", and "Fate"

All five will be used somehow in my rpf_big_bang contribution.

Hubby left at 3:30 to take the daughter to her acting class. From there, he went to visit his mother who lives close by, then was going back and pick up the child at 6.

I was going to write on my big bang; I was going to update my muse posts at DW; I was ...

Well, the dog and I played in the hose. I ran the dishwasher. I put the roast in the oven half an hour ago. I scanned a piece of music for our praise team and uploaded it and the companion mp3 file.

*yawn*

Yeah, that was it.

*happy sigh*

Well, we know who's really enjoying the portable a/c unit the most.

I'm supposed to be at 7200 words today, and I'm at 4197. I've been slacking big time. I've already done almost 600 this afternoon and will crank out some more tonight. I need to get caught up.

Although the hero just met the bad guy. :)

So, remember the V.I that I posted about yesterday?

He just stopped by and we had a little chat. It all boiled down to me telling him that he should have told me right away when he cut a wire so that I could have dealt with it before the holiday weekend (and triple the repair rates). I told him again how miserable it had been without air conditioning for the past three days.

He replied.

Wait for it.

Really, it's worth it.

"That was your air conditioning? I thought it was the phone line."

Seriously, you can't make up stuff like this.

After church he went to his and his partner's storage unit and brought us their portable a/c unit. When the power is out after hurricanes, they use it with their generator. When he set it up in the living room, the thermostat read 91F.

It's already a lot more bearable than it was an hour ago.

Has anyone else's layout disappeared?

I need to do a big update, but it's too bloody hot to think. It's our turn to not have working a/c. Found out the reason it's dead is because the village idiot* that does our lawn (poorly) cut a wire with the weed whacker. Don't know if he ever planned to tell us about it, but when I saw him this morning I asked him to trim around the unit so I could have the repair people come out - it isn't working and we're roasting to death. "Oh yeah, I cut a wire the other day, it was an accident." ::tears out hair::

Of course, repair won't happen until after the hub gets home from his business trip late Tuesday. I don't have the available funds to pay for it, and being a sloth with lousy credit, I also have no credit card to fund it. So we went to Target last night and picked up three box fans - one for me, one for the child, one for the dog, so at least sleep was mostly bearable.

Was looking forward to doing nothing tonight (see part about hubby being out of town, lol) but sister in law called and invited us down. She hasn't been well, so we thought there was no family gathering, but it's just going to be four of us - me, the kidlet, her, and my mil. So I said we'd go.

I worked a full day yesterday so that I can have Monday off, and even with no a/c I'm looking forward to just hanging out. Maybe we'll play in the hose. *g*

Other things to do:
- work on RPF Big Bang
- update my muse posts at DW
- update drabble posts at DW

*remember the incident with the dog? Yeah, him.

Edit: apparently that was in a Twitter post on 6/5. "Village idiot was pesking the dog, and he finally managed to pull me down via the wet grass. Going to be sore, I landed over VI's front bike tire."

No my friends, this is not art. This is what's left of the hub's reading glasses.

Fyi, the spots on the left lens aren't dirt, they're teeth marks. This definitely surpasses him eating Ninja Nick.

Ok, so you know I'm bored if I resort to a post like this. Feel free to skip this one. :)

Yesterday morning was my monthly meeting of the women's group at church. I have various responsibilities, and yesterday's was unlocking/locking up and making sure the sound system in the sanctuary was turned on/turned off, much the same with the A/C units. Exciting, yes?

I thought we had a baby shower yesterday afternoon, but I am a a dork and didn't read closely - it was this afternoon. P was one of the kids that grew up in the old church, and she's expecting her first baby (a boy) next month. There were other former kids and their babies there and it was just wonderful to watch them in their new roles. :)

This morning was church as normal, except that I was the soloist today. For anyone that knows this sort of music, I did Reuben Morgan's "The Power of Your Love." It was nice, as always, having two keyboards and drums to back me up. I'm such a rock star! *g* I was going to have the daughter video it for me, but today was her day to run the media for the service so she had her hands full. The choir is finished until fall, hallelujah!

She's at her drama class now, but should be home in a bit. Hub took her down there at 4 and then went to visit his sister thus leaving me with a quiet house since 3:30. Two loads of laundry are done as well as a little writing.

We're having breakfast for dinner tonight - French toast. Mmmmm. I get to use the last of my WW Flex Points tonight! Tomorrow is weigh-in day, we shall see if I managed to do better than last week.

In other news, the dog ate my Ninja Nick BK figure yesterday. He's lucky I've allowed him to live. Really, it's only because I have another one somewhere. He and I played in the hose this afternoon, it was great fun. It was 95F this afternoon.

And now he's getting into something, I'd better go see 'what'. Urg.

As long as I can use a lot of dialogue, I'm great! LOL

That thunder I mentioned? As you can hear, the dog wasn't amused.

And also hail ... )

Hubby just called to make sure we were okay. Apparently the hail north of here was nickel-sized.

It's all thundery again.

I'm alone save for the dog, and the cats are crashed out on my bed. Hubby has taken the daughter to her acting class and is going to go hang out with his mom while she's there. Mom passed out in the grocery store yesterday and they had to call 9-1-1. She has low blood pressure, and we're fairly certain this was the cause, but she still refused to be transported so they could examine her.

It sounds horrid, but I'm so not looking forward to going through this again. I nursed my mom through emphysema and probable cancer, then the TIA's and related dementia; she died blessedly soon after the strokes began, and in ten more months my sister succumbed after her breast cancer metastasized and spread to her brain. My mother had me setting the dinner table because her grandparents were coming to dinner, and then my sister was actually able to sketch the trolls she saw in the uppermost corner of her hospital room while whacked out on Ativan.

I just don't envy my husband and his sister at all. And yes, of course I will be there and do whatever I can to help when the time comes, but I'm not looking forward to it.

The dog has his head in my lap and is spooked. I think we're going to go take a nap.

I'm really enjoying [community profile] fiction_drabbles; writers on my flist should check it out. I'm striving to do all original characters and stay away from fannish things, just to see if I can. *g*
